The Sake Encounter is written by one person in Japan, so anything you send comes straight to me — and the reply comes back from me, not from a support desk.
I'm on Japan Standard Time (UTC+9), so there's often a lag. I usually answer within a few days.
Things I'm always glad to hear about
- Questions about a sake, a brewery, a kiln, or a cup I've written about
- Corrections. If I've got a name, a region, or a detail wrong, please tell me. I'll fix it and note the change.
- Breweries, sake shops, bars, and kilns who'd like their work written about
- Retailers and brands interested in working together
- Press, republication, and image requests
A few things I can't do
- I can't ship sake or ceramics. Japanese export rules and alcohol licensing put that well beyond what a blog can do.
- I can't source a specific bottle for you — though if you tell me what you're after, I can often point you to a retailer who might carry it.
- I can't write tasting notes on something I haven't tasted. That's the whole premise of this site.
